The remarkable journey of Jafar Altememy. From one city to another, from new beginnings to a lasting contribution.
MORE THAN A BIOGRAPHY

A life can take you across borders. What matters is what you build along the way.
Jafar Altememy's story began in Baghdad, Iraq. After spending two years in a refugee camp in Saudi Arabia, he arrived in Norway in 1993. His earliest priority, as he later described it, was to learn the language, find his place, and contribute to the society that welcomed him.
In a 2017 interview, he recalled taking on roles ranging from cleaner to head waiter at a Clarion hotel. That determination to learn and build a network helped lead him toward a career in Norway's cinema industry, and later to organisations at the intersection of public service, culture, and city life.
His career is not simply about titles. It reflects a commitment to working with people, navigating change, and making shared spaces and experiences better for those who use them.

Jafar, your journey deserves more than a list of accomplishments. It deserves to be remembered as a story about possibility, purpose, and the people whose lives are made better along the way.
Some stories remind us how far a person can travel. Yours reminds us how much a person can contribute after arriving.
From a new beginning in Norway to years spent bringing people, places and culture together, your journey speaks of courage, care and commitment.
This small corner of the internet is a celebration of what you have built and a thank-you for the example you set. May the chapters still to come be every bit as meaningful as those already written.
With admiration,
Someone who wanted your story to be celebrated.
